Filled with chic bistros, beautiful cafes and cosy restaurants, Cape Town is undoubtedly one of the best places to enjoy a meal – and of course, there is nothing us Capetonians love more than a delicious breakfast.
It is treated as more of an outing or an activity than simply just another meal time. In keeping with this, I tried out The Bay Hotel buffet breakfast, a hotel breakfast in Camps Bay.
Walking into Tides, the breakfast venue at the hotel, the first thing that strikes me is the gorgeous view. It is like no other; the glass panelled second story room provides panoramic views of the entire Camps Bay beach and Lion’s head. The room is filled with light, and on this cloudy winter morning, the sound of the ocean and the warmth of the room create the perfect atmosphere for enjoying a hearty breakfast. They could charge for this view alone.
Having had my fair share of hotel breakfasts around the world, I was ready to enjoy all that The Bay Hotel had to offer and there was certainly plenty to enjoy.
To say that one would be spoilt for choice is an understatement. You can help yourself to their continental breakfast, which consists of a variety of pastries, cheeses, jams, cold meats, breads as well as yoghurt, muesli and fruit. This spread is delightful, even adding fresh salmon to the list of yummy treats to choose from.
There is also a combination of hot foods available on the buffet: delicious bacon, eggs and mushrooms ready to go.
Drinks are included in the price and I don’t think anything could have made this luxury breakfast experience any better than to end it with a glass of Champagne while taking in the rolling waves on Camps Bay beach.
For those who don’t quite fancy the buffet menu, The Bay Hotel’s hot breakfast menu is even more scrumptious and includes delights like the Tides eggs benedict and the Tides full English Breakfast.
With a venue like no other and a host of delicious choices on their buffet, The Bay Hotel truly offers a unique breakfast experience that will have you sitting back and enjoying a leisurely breakfast for hours while taking in the view. The experience was something that topped the rest and a treat worth coming back for.
