This role forms part of the Events team at Village n Life, based in Camps Bay, Cape Town.
The Role
As Events Manager, you’ll lead Village n Life’s Events division, driving sales, bookings and the seamless delivery of weddings, conferences and special occasions across our properties. Reporting to the COO, you’ll guide the Events Team in achieving commercial goals while ensuring every event reflects our brand’s warm, professional service.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Marketing
– Develop and grow the group’s banqueting and events offering
– Prepare budgets and sales targets, driving new business and repeat bookings
– Build strong relationships with key accounts, partners and suppliers
Coordination & Operations
– Oversee event bookings at The Bay Hotel venues (The Rotunda, Boardroom, Tides, Sandy B)
– Support event coordination across Camps Bay Retreat, Harbour House Hotel, The Farmhouse Hotel and Pezula Nature Retreat & Spa
– Manage supplier contracts, stock control and compliance with health and safety standards
– Conduct management shifts and ensure smooth operational delivery
Guest & Financial Management
– Ensure exceptional guest satisfaction and timely handling of feedback
– Manage costs, budgets and billing accuracy while maintaining quality
Team Leadership
– Train, mentor and schedule staff for efficient operations
– Uphold standards, teamwork and a positive service culture
What We’re Looking For
– Matric required, relevant certificates are a plus, experience in events is essential.
– Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role (wedding coordination essential)
– Strong knowledge of conferencing and reservations procedures
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Opera experience advantageous
– Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills
