Pezula Championship Golf Course has long since been regarded as one of the best – and most beautiful – golf courses in South Africa. The intricate course offers great plays and fabulous views and is a must for any golf aficionados finding themselves on the Garden Route.
One man that knows the Pezula course very well, is their current club champion, Danny Maritz.
Danny currently holds the title of Club Champion, after scoring a total of 155 in a 36-hole tournament. It is his first time being named club champion. He will retain his title as champion until next year March, when the club championships will be held again – however, he may still retain his title after that, considering his in-depth knowledge of the course and obvious golf talent!
The 53-year old is a local Garden Router, and currently resides in George – only about an hour’s drive away from Knysna. When he’s not playing on the course, Maritz also works behind the scenes.
He is the CEO of Turfworx, a modern turf grass management company that specialises in the maintenance of golf courses and all types of specialised sport facilities. Maritz and Turfworx’s relationship with Pezula Championship Golf Course goes way back, as teh has been associated with Pezula for more than a decade.
Maritz has been playing golf for 30 years, so it’s safe to say he knows his stuff! He currently holds a handicap of 3.8.
Congratulations, Danny! And may you continue to enjoy the beauty of the game and Pezula Championship Golf Course.
