At Village n Life, we firmly believe that in order to have a positive impact on the world, we need to start with our own staff, their communities and organisations that they are either touched by or involved with.

We make a point to actively communicate with our staff and their communities in order to find creative, innovative and practical ways in which we can assist to better themselves or their communities.

Our approach is a proactive one. It is not our aim or our intention to take all the shine and donate massive amounts on money with no integrity in the follow up. Instead, we will investigate to truly find dynamic ways in which we can assist, and help involve our staff and their respective communities in the over all sponsorship.

Each of these community projects that we have been busy with over the past three months means something special to us, and we are delighted that we got to spread joy and lend a helping hand where we can, and we’re thrilled to share these projects with you.

Horizon House

Like we’ve said before, staff are like family – so when former staff member, Elzabi Van Wyk, reached out to ask for a sponsorship for a Golf Day at her new workplace, we were happy to assist. Horizon House is a residential and sheltered-employment centre in Stellenbosch, specialising in the holistic care of people with a primary intellectual disability. Village n Life sponsored a two-night Knysna getaway, which will be auctioned off to the highest bidder at their Golf Day in April.

Knysna Canoe Polo Club

When we were contacted about this sponsorship opportunity, we were very excited to participate. Not just because the funds raised would help get 8 local kids to Ireland for the 2019 Polo Championship, but because it gave us the opportunity to get the local community involved and offer an amazing three-night Knysna escape as a prize.

Raffles tickets are being sold and the projected income from this sponsorship is around R50,000. The children who have been selected as part of the team are part of the schools and neighbourhood in which our staff live, and we are so happy to be able to assist young individuals reach their dreams.

Camps Bay Primary Netball Club

When we heard that the Under 13 Netball team at Camps Bay Primary School was invited to a tournament in Knysna, we had to get involved to help get them there! A number of our staff members have or have had children in this school, so it seemed even more fitting! We donated vouchers for a long weekend Knysna escape, which are currently being sold as part of a raffle prize.
