Village n Life recently held its 25-year annual Owner’s Conference at The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay. The purpose and aim of the event was to inform and interact with current owners in an interactive, and informal way – so as to showcase what’s on the horizon for Village n Life and what exciting investment opportunities the group can offer owners.

The private conference, held in the Conference Centre at The Bay Hotel, consisted of an interactive workshop and several panel discussions. It also provided the owners with a platform to not only address concerns but to officially meet and communicate with Village n Life staff, management and executives.

The welcome and introduction was done by Village n LIfe non-executive board member, Jo-Ann Strauss, after which Village n Life chairman, Maree Brink, started the panel discussion.

The panel discussions covered a range of topics including the latest tourism industry trends, affordable housing, the so-called ‘Airbnb effect’ and Atlantic seaboard property investment in key areas such as Camps Bay, De Waterkant and the Waterfront in Cape Town.

Many challenges that currently face the Village n Life group were also discussed, such as the Airbnb platform model, but also how the group intends to stay ahead of the curve in terms of technology and continuously reinventing the company.

Village n Life executives each had a chance to address the owners about a range of topics that they are familiar with.

One particular highlight of the event was the presentation of the Mauritian property development and management companies, which featured promising investment opportunities abroad, with current Village n Life owners positively displaying interest.

The Trimetys Development Group introduced owners to Cap Tamarin – a smart village being developed over 44 hectares as an extension of the village of Tamarin in Mauritius. In addition to the presentation of Cap Tamarin by the Trimetys Group, Mauritian-based Horizon Holidays also had a chance to speak to the owners about tourism and hospitality in Mauritius.

A lovely post drinks and dinner spit braai event, catered by the talented chefs of The Bay Hotel followed the discussions. With a stunning sunset over the Atlantic Ocean, it was the best way to end a stellar day.

This event will be held on an annual basis, with this year providing an insight as to why owners enjoyed the event as a platform to be informed of the internal news that the Village n Life group creates and wants to share.

We look forward to next year’s event.
